Aniin! Hello! My name is Talia and this is my first summer working with TRACKS. I've been working as a summer camp instructor for the last month and I absolutely love it. I am Métis, but I grew up in Toronto, a small town called Port Perry, and now Peterborough! I love science and the environment- to be super specific I love the study of insects ( entomology ) and how insects interact with the environment, each other, and life around them!

My love for science began when I took grade 10 science in highschool and realized that science was similar to math ( I love math), except the formulas were actually applicable to the content that we were learning, and weren’t just for hypothetical problems. However I'd also say my love for science officially took off when I found my interest in entomology. Now I just can't get enough about learning anything science related, and I plan to go to university for Environmental Biology!

While this may be my first year working with TRACKS, this is technically my third year working with Trent! The past 3 summers I volunteered at the Nogojiwanong Indigenous Fringe Festival (NIFF) which is the world's first and only Indigenous Fringe Festival. I started volunteering for what was mostly motivated by my need for volunteer hours, but it turned into a deep satisfaction of being able to offer my support for local Indigenous artists in a tangible way. I’ve come back every year to help since my first year, and I plan to offer my support in the following years too!
I've done lots of work surrounding my love for art and theatre, but this is my first job officially working around science based learning and I couldn't love it more. I've really enjoyed teaching, learning new things, and working together with my lovely team!
